Registration and dues

Potential Scouts and their parents are welcome to participate in Pack 313 and Den activities before officially joining the Pack.  Please introduce yourself to the leader so we know who you are.  New Cub Scouts are welcome at any time during the year.  If your child(ren) decide to join the Pack…

New Scouts need to register with the BSA.  Parents/guardians should start by going to the Pack 313 my.Scouting page and click on the Youth button and enter your Scout’s information (and some information about you).  Hint: The question, “Is the youth a current/former Scout?”, is really asking, “Is the Scout registered?” — so answer “No”.   If online registration is problematic, you may be able print and fill out a traditional BSA Youth application (but first check with the Cubmaster).  Previously registered Scouts should skip this step.

Once you complete filling in the forms, you’ll be quoted a price including a prorated registration fee and Scout Life magazine subscription.  You will be asked to pay online at the time of registration.  This covers BSA and Council fees, and we ask you to pay the remaining amount ($195 minus what you paid online) to the Pack by check or online (at the bottom of this page).  If you registered as an adult leader, the Pack will pay your registration fees.

In summary, 2 steps for a new Scout (in this order):

  1. Register with the BSA.
  2. Pay remaining annual dues.

1 step for a returning Scout: Pay annual dues.

Pack 313 dues for 2023-2024 are $195 per Scout, whether new or continuing for another year.  The dues include:

Awards (belt loops, pins, patches, etc.) are paid for by the Thompson Fund.  Some activities like camping and the Pack overnight can require additional fees.  We have no required fundraising, but if you would like to lead (optional) fundraising, let a Pack leader know.  Ask the Cubmaster any questions you might have about Pack budget and expenses.  Finances should not keep a child from participating in Cub Scouts.  Contact the Cubmaster (cubmaster@arlingtoncubs313.com) or Treasurer about financial aid options.

We recommend that you pay your dues with credit card (secure online payment via PayPal).  To make a payment, select the payment type below and click the “Pay Now” button. You will be taken to a secure page hosted by PayPal where you can enter your credit card information. You do not need a PayPal account to make a payment.  Payment is due November 3, 2023.  Pack 313 dues (and other types of payments) can also be paid by check (made out to “Arlington Pack 313”).  Bring the check to a Pack meeting on or before November 3, 2023.

Newly registered Scouts pay some of their annual dues at the time of registration.  Subtract this amount from $195 (per Scout), and this is what you can pay by check or below (under “Other Amount”, rounded to the nearest dollar).

New adult leaders (like Den Leaders) also need to register.  Start by completing Youth Protection Training.  Then complete the online Spirit of Adventure Council CORI form and upload your Mass Drivers license or government issued photo ID.  Then forward our Committee Chair a copy of the SoA CORI form confirmation email and a copy of the ID you uploaded.  Lastly, Complete the online my.Scouting application.  Pack 313 will reimburse whatever you’re required to pay; send a record of that to the Cubmaster.
