Pack 313 Fall Hike

Sat. October 8, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.
Minute Man National Park – Battle Road

Rte 2A, Lincoln

Pack 313 Fall Hike will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. starting in the Minute
Man National Park Visitors Center off of Rte 2A in Lincoln. Our pack has a special reserved showing
of the short film called “Road to Revolution” telling the story of the battle of April 19, 1775 starting
at 10:00 a.m. The hike will start immediately thereafter (about 10:30 a.m.) at the entrance to the Battle
Road just off the parking lot and hiking West for about 1.5 miles to the Hartwell Tavern.

At the tavern the pack is welcome to join costume Park Rangers who offer a tour of the Tavern and a
verbal history of “Who were the Minutemen” at 11:15 a.m. or 12:15 a.m. Also this weekend at the
Hartwell Tavern will be His Majesty’s 1st Regiment, Foot Guards who will have re-enactors performing
18th century maneuvers and an opportunity to see their uniforms and equipment.

The Pack, Dens, or families can linger and lunch here or continue to hike west on the Battle Road to
Meriam’s Corner (about another 2 miles) or return back to the Visitors Center.

The Battle Road is a gravel path with flat to moderate inclines and really good for Tigers, Bears and
Wolves. We will pass Paul Revere’s capture site and another restored colonial era home on the way to
Hartwell Tavern. There are bathrooms at the Visitors Center and also near the Hartwell Tavern. There is
also a parking area closer to the Hartwell Tavern or further west on Rte 2A near Brooks Village for those
who want to drop off a car and only hike one way.

Depending on how long you stay at Hartwell Tavern you can walk round trip from the Visitor Center in
about an hour. Join us for any or all parts of the hike this year!
