2020 Pack Camping at Lone Tree (cancelled)

Pack 313 will be camping at Lone Tree Scout Reservation from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3, 2020. Scouts, siblings, and parents may join us for any combination of Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night. On Saturday, we’ll be participating in Lone Tree’s Saturday Open Program, which includes lots of fun activities, like BB guns, archery, challenge course, and nature activities. The Saturday Open Program is free for those with a Council Adventure Card (which all Pack 313 registered Scouts have). Parents and siblings can register (for ~$20) and participate too.

For camping, we’ve reserved two group tent sites and one cabin (with bunks for 12), all in the Sacawacas area. For the tent sites, you’ll need to bring your own tent. If you haven’t camped before, we’ll talk about things to bring (or not to bring) to make your experience pleasant, safe, and fun. We haven’t yet decided how we’ll organize meals, but we’ll let you know in plenty of time. Depending on the number of families, we’ll either let each family plan their meals, or put families in groups and let each group plan their meals.

We plan to have a campfire (or campfires) of two types. One type of campfire will be a campfire program, when Scouts, Scout leaders, and parents will have the opportunity to create their own entertainment with items such as skits, songs, cheers, and stories. The other type of campfire will be a dessert campfire that features marshmallows and other camping treats.

We wanted to introduce this activity now so you can save the dates on your calendar. We’ll let you know more details as we figure them out. Since we’ve already reserved the campsites, if you want to join us, we’ll need at least one week notice so families can coordinate meals.

Pack Overnight at the Worcester EcoTarium

Our 2020 Pack Overnight will be at the Worcester EcoTarium from Saturday, January 11 to Sunday, January 12!

Plan to arrive 5 – 6 pm on Saturday. We’ll participate in a special EcoTarium program that night, after which we’ll sleep on the floor among the museum exhibits. They’ll also have a morning program for us, and we can stay until 10 am on Sunday. Some of the older Scouts should remember when we attended a similar program several years ago. It’ll be a great time! More info is on the EcoTarium’s Night Journeys page.

The Overnight is $60 per person (child or adult) and people can reserve their place by giving a check (made payable to “Arlington Pack 313”) to the Cubmaster or the Treasurer with attendees names in the Memo section. They’re holding 70 places for us, and we’ll accept reservations for Cubs and parents until the end of the November 8 Pack meeting. As long as we still have space, siblings can sign up at that time. Payment/reservations will be accepted until November 24 or when we get to 70, whichever comes first.

At some point, parents should consult the Night Journey Chaperone Information Sheet for lots of useful details.

Sorry — no more registrations are accepted at this time.

Camping at Lone Tree

The Webelos den went camping at Lone Tree Scout Reservation in Kingston, NH. The Saturday adventure program was amazing! The jam-packed day included archery, BB shooting, fishing, tomahawk throwing, a challenge course, campfire, and even baking cookies in a homemade oven.

Rawwwwr! 2019 Museum of Science Overnight

What sound did a T-Rex make, anyway? We’re not sure, but we sure had fun thinking about that and a million other things when we spent the night at the Museum of Science! Our Scouts had a fantastic night at the museum, with an evening of great activities capped by the famous lightning show. We even got a couple hours of sleep that night!

Off to the Races! Pinewood Derby

The 2019 Pinewood Derby is in the books! As always, we had a number of amazing cars.
